Real Time Ultrasound
Real Time ultrasound is equipment used by the Physiotherapist to assess contraction of the deep stabilising muscles of the spine (core muscles). It is like the equipment used by Obstetricians to assess the foetus in the womb. Physiotherapists use it to accurately assess the timing and endurance of the deep spinal stabilisers. It enables specificity of muscle retraining and provides visual feedback of the muscle performance which can assist the patient in effectively engaging their core muscles.
There is significant scientific evidence to support the efficacy of core conditioning in improving movement quality. Real time ultrasound has been demonstrated to more effectively facilitate core conditioning.
It can assist with the following : –
- Low back pain
- Pelvic floor exercises
- Pelvic pain or instability
- Recurrent leg conditions ( hip, knee ,ankle )

Active Ageing
Ageing well is about maintaining the strength, mobility and confidence to keep doing the things that matter to you. Our physiotherapy programs are designed to help you maintain physical capacity , manage musculoskeletal conditions and build resilience for everyday life, recreational and exercise.
Active Ageing can help with:
- Strength & conditioning
- Balance & Falls prevention
- Mobility & flexibility
- Osteoarthritis & persistent pain
- Returning to activity after injury or illness
- Maintaining fitness & function
- Confidence with exercise & everyday activity
- Osteoporosis & Bone health
Strength & Conditioning
Maintaining strength is one of the most important foundations of healthy ageing. Individualized programs can help preserve muscle strength, physical capacity and confidence with everyday activities, while supporting the things you want to keep doing- from walking and gardening to golf, travel and exercise.
Programs are tailored to your current ability, health profile and personal goals, and progressed as your strength and confidence improve.
Balance & Falls Prevention
Good balance depends on strength, mobility, coordination and confidence. Changes in any of these areas can increase falls risk. and gradually limit activity.
We assess the factors contributing to balance and mobility and develop an individualized program to improve stability, strength and confidence. Where appropriate, this may include walking, balance and functional training, together with practical strategies to reduce falls risk and maintain independence.
Bone Health & Osteoporosis
Strong bones need the right kind of loading. Exercise can play an important role in maintaining bone health and physical function, particularly for people with osteopenia or osteoporosis.
We develop individualized programs incorporating appropriate resistance, weight bearing and balance exercises, taking into account your bone health, medical history and current level of activity. The aim is to build strength, maintain function and support safe, confident movement.
Arthritis & Persistent pain
Arthritis and persistent pain can make it tempting to move less, but the right approach to movement and exercise can help maintain strength, mobility and confidence.
We develop individualized programs that consider your symptoms , physical capacity and goals. Treatment may include targeted exercise, strength and mobility work., activity modification and strategies to help you stay active and continue doing the things that matter.
Return to Activity
Returning to activity after injury, illness or a period of reduced exercise can feel challenging. A structured approach can help rebuild strength, fitness and confidence without doing too much too soon.
We develop individualized programs based on your current capacity and the activities you want to return to – whether that’s walking, golf, swimming, cycling, the gym or simply keeping up with everyday life. Your program is progressed as your activity improves.
Independence & Healthy Ageing
Healthy ageing is about more than managing individual conditions., It’s about managing the physical capacity and confidence to live well and remain independent.
We take a broader view of your strength, mobility, balance, fitness and everyday function to identify areas that may benefit from attention. Your program is then tailored to support the activities lifestyle that matter to you, helping you stay active, capable and engaged as you age.
